7-Night Holiday Valencia & Pyrenees
Thanks to the diverse habitats of Spain, we´re delighted to be able to offer a 7-day bird watching holiday. The itinerary has been carefully designed, focusing on:
Diversity of habitats and species.
Minimal travelling time.
Authentic Spanish accommodation.
The trip can easily be adapted depending on the clients´wishes and specific travel plans and is suitable for flights to and from both Valencia and Alicante airports.
Lammergeier
Timing
The best time of year for this trip is either Spring or Summer (Late May to Early September). Depending upon timing, we can expect to see between 150 and 170 species throughout the week.
Accommodation
The above model is based upon 4 nights in an authentic rural hotel in the Pyrenees and 2 nights in a traditional hotel in the heart of the historic quarter of the city of Valencia. In all cases, the choice of accommodation and location can be amended to suit to wishes of the client. A few evenings could provide time for you to relax with your partner or group (without your guide) if you wish.
Plan
Likewise, when proposing specific itineraries, we can also consider any particular target species and other related activities. For example, some clients may opt to dedicate a day specifically to bird photography, so we can offer the use of professional photography hides.

DAY 1
Arrival & bird watching at the local wetlands in Valencia.
We will collect you from the airport, where we can discuss the plan for the week over a relaxing coffee. We would then visit local wetland where the species could include Black Winged Stilt, Glossy Ibis, Purple Swamphen, Greater Flamingo, Audouin´s Gull and Slender Billed Gull. Overnight in Valencia.
DAY 2
Lamiana - Pryrenees.
Today, we´ll travel to the Pyrenees, North of Spain. This trip involves 5.30 hours driving, arriving in the afternoon to focus on some of the area’s specialist mountain species around the Mountain Hotel including Egyptian Vulture, Griffon Vulture, Raven, Red Kite, Cirl Bunting and Red-backed Shrike. We´ll focus on some of the area´s specialist mountain species including Lammergeier, Egyptian Vulture, Griffon Vulture, Alpine Chough, Short-toed Eagle, Booted Eagle, Tawny Pipit and Citril Finch.
DAY 3
Poset-Maladeta National Park - Pyrenees.
On day 3 we´ll visit one of the region´s premium hot spots. This trip involves a little travelling time and takes in some stunning alpine scenery. We will be aiming to see birds such as Alpine Chough, Citril Finch, Tawny Pipit, Golden Eagle.
DAY 4
Ordesa & Monte Perdido National Park - Pyrenees.
Today, we´ll head for the high mountains of Monte Perdido National Park. This unique vast highland habitat holds some extremely special birds including Red-billed Chough, Lammergeier, Short-toed Eagle. Landscape and scenery are completely overwhelming.
DAY 5
Revilla, Ordesa & Monte Perdido National Park - Pryrenees.
Today we´ll spend the day around where the accommodation is located to avoid any sort of traveling. This day will provide the possibility to access in a professional photography hide for Lammergeier and others raptors according to the client interest on photography. Otherwise, this area is spectacular for enjoying great views of Lammergeier, Egyptian Vultures, Raven, Red Kite, Short-toed Eagle, Red-back Shrike, Rock Bunting and Cirl Bunting.
DAY 6
Albufera de Valencia.
We´ll spend the day at one of the regions´ best coastal wetland reserves. The habitat diversity is superb and includes beach, coastal lagoons, dunes, reed beds, pastureland and scrub. This is a very species-rich area, for shorebirds, wildfowl, passerines and raptors. Species could include Collared Pratincole, Little Tern, Whiskered Tern, White Headed Duck, Great Reed Warbler, Whiskered Tern and Marsh Harrier.
DAY 7
Birding in a local hot spot & transport to the Airport.
Depending on flight schedule we could spend a few hours birding in Turia Natural Park. This hot spot not far from the airport provides an excellent habitat for Black Wheatear, Blue Rock Thrush, Hoopoe, Green Woodpecker, would be an excellent opportunity to end this unforgettable trip.

Depending on group size, indicative pricing is:

1160€ per person (for 2 people)
This includes 6 nights’ accommodation single room, all local transport and professional guiding services throughout the trip. Flights and meals are not included, as well as, professional photography hide fee. This is based on a group size of 3 people. We can also offer this trip for smaller or larger groups, and as stated the trip can be modified accordingly.
